Migrating zones & different patch-levels

Hi,

I'd like to migrate a couple of zones off of a very busy T2000; most

packages on the target machine for the move are on a more recent

patch-level than on the machine where the zones come from.

How trivial is the move, can I patch them up from their new global

zone after a forced attach? Patching the busy machine is not really

an option at this stage (mostly *because* it is so busy).

Cheers

As far as I am aware, migrating zones requires that the 2 machines be at *identical* patch levels....

I've been working with this too. Two identical servers, (x4100s), with the same Solaris 10 release and patch cluster. When I do a zone detach and zone attach it complains about all these incompatible patches and packages, even though some of the patches ARE there. If I do a 'zone attach -f' it works fine- I even have an Oracle database in a zone that starts up fine (detached a zone from a V240 and attached it to a E450!). I have a support case open on this, and I just built two new V215s to do some more testing.
