X11 6.6.2 Xsun patch incompatible with imaging applications - Solaris 10

Hello,

I am running Sol 10 11/06 on a Sun Blade (64-bit). After installing patch 119059-27, an imaging application that is vital to my workflow will no longer run. I get a Segmentation Fault.

The application is ENVI Freelook, and is available for free at:

http://rsinc.com/download/download.asp?searchstring=FreeLook&ProductVersion =All+Products

Neither the 64- or 32-bit Sparc versions of Freelook will now work. After removing the patch, reverting to patch level 119059-25, Freelook will work again. If Freelook doesn't run, it is probable that IDL, a high-level programming language, and ENVI, a popular imaging application written in IDL, also will not work with the new Xsun patch. This is not good.

Is there a workaround for this problem? Or shall I just wait for the next version, hoping that the problem won't recur? Is this the right forum to post this problem?

The company that makes Freelook, ITT Visual Information Solutions, has been made aware of the problem, and has submitted a critical bug report to its developers. A very similar problem existed with Linux. The Linux bug has been fixed for IDL 6.4, but NOT the Solaris bug, at least for now.
