Future Upgrades

I am jumping ahead, but I wonder how coolstack will handle future upgrades.

I have installed CoolStack 1.1 I some far it seem to have saved me a lot of time, but what will happen when 1.x comes out, since the packages will over write the previous versions.

Can I suggest that CSK have a version number included in it i.e. CSKamp11, plus they install in a different location or at least the apache/mysql install in a different location. No one wants to install a new version which will over write there existing Apache/MySQL....

What I would like to see is a structure like this:

/opt/coolstack/

apache223

mysql5033

or the better way is like the /usr/java way

/opt/coolstack ->/opt/coolstack11

or

/opt/coolstack ->/opt/coolstack13

This means that you can download and play with your binaries with out any worries.

Any thoughts...

Andrew

There needs to be support for in-place upgrades as well - without necessarily touching the configuration.

We'll be working on these aspects as we take this forward on the Open Solaris web stack project. Stay tuned for more details.
