hey people am a software student , i would love to learn java. would any one help me to learn it . i dont know how to proceed.
i know some basic programming , have made some projects on it , but i want to do some serious work. something really great , not just any routine job ,

Here's a good job for you... please rewrite my digital cadastral database. We'd like web services for everything please, and double the current performance, on half the current machine, and it needs to be ready by June 30, coz I told the Premier he could have it then.
Here's a great place to start: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/Go through the tutorial from the beginning, and write the code yourself for each lesson, don't just copy and paste.
