Roadmaps for Netbeans / SJSE

We are about to start a new project and are planning to go with Sun App Server 9 but are undecided about which IDE to use.

Specfically, will there be a release of SJSE based on Netbeans 5.5.1 or better 6.0 or has this product been replaced by the Enterprise Pack for Netbeans? I can't see much difference between the two any more.

I am also struggling to find any roadmaps for the availability of Update 3 of the application server for production environments. We are happy to go with previews for development but need released versions for productions.

Thanks for any info,

Peter

Right now, there are no plans to release a JSE version based on NB55 or NB60.

For developing with glassfish (Sun Java System AppServer 9), please try NetBeans 5.5:

http://www.netbeans.info/downloads/index.php?rs=11

The above URL also has a section 'Download NetBeans IDE with Application Server' which provides you with installers that bundle ide with the appserver.

NetBeans is developed in opensource and is where all future developments are expected to happen. So, you should consider moving to NetBeans.

NetBeans 6.0 is currently under development; it may have some rough edges since it is still under development: http://wiki.netbeans.org/wiki/view/Development

For information on roadmaps to appserver, please refer to:

http://java.sun.com/javaee/downloads/index.jsp

https://glassfish.dev.java.net/ (this is where glassfish is being developed as an opensource project)

The forum http://forum.java.sun.com/index.jspa?tab=es is a good place for queries on appserver and other enterprise servers from Sun.
