I'd like to get lasik, but someone explained how they do it to me once. They said they cut thin layers of the cornea and peel them back so they can zap the layers underneath with the lasers while you're still awake LGHALUGLAGHULGUAL **** A WHOLE LOT OF THAT. I guess I should ask an actual doctor about it eventually though. :)

I was in a glasses store (what the hell do you call those places anyway) not too long ago and thought to myself "where the hell are all the men's frames?" only to realize I was looking at the men's frames. I really hope they can still make lenses to fit my current frames.

I saw an episode of 'How It's Made' that showed how they do it. It was... interesting...
Personally, after of having to worry about glasses or contacts all the time since I was a wee lad
I would gladly do it if I were a good candidate, even if I only got ten years of uncorrected vision out of it.

I got a different story from him: http://thephoenix.com/OutsideTheFrame/content/binary/panimage~15.jpg
Ahhh, I wish we could slip images into posts....

True! And imagine, I could have made that mistake without needing to wear glasses
after having had lasik done. Unfortunately for me, there may not be enough material for a doctor
to remove to correct my vision.

Well, maybe the laser snapped in half and it incised his head.
Speaking of that movie, that girl was SOOOO **** stupid at that part! Hell if you're going to eat forbidden food, why would you go for the farking grapes and not the big, juicy steak or the honey-glazed ham?

I'm still trying to figure out that movie.
speaking of that movie...
whats going on with the forums, i saw that they requested an update from jive, and are going to implement it. has anyone seen any evidence of this?
i checked out the jive site, and their screenshots of forums look much nicer then this one.. maybe they can just get the new version instead of a bug fix for the version from 1997
My wife just had lasik done and she is 100% happy with it.
You just got to find a doctor with a lot of experience and very high success rate. Her lasik surgeon had performed over 28,000 procedures with only one minor botch up. Gotta figure though with those odds I would consider myself in good hands.
What pi$$ed me off to no end was that I paid around $1,600 for a procedure that took them 2 and a half minutes to perform. They gotta be making money hand over fist.

Well, yeah, but you aren't paying $1600 for 2.5 minutes of surgery, you're paying $1600 for 2.5 minutes of not having your eyes destroyed by lasers. Meaning you're paying that much because it's risky procedure that takes years of experience and training to get good at. If anybody could do it right, you could get it done at walmart for $50.

You might want to question exactly who is collecting the data however.

I am rather certain that there is more involved than that.
There is at least one prelim and follow up exam correct?
Not to mention overhead of course - you do want the machine maintained right?
Well yeah there is more involved than just that 2.5 minutes.
They do a prelim to determine that your eyes are healthy enough to heal after a lasik procedure, and there are several short follow-ups.
Also they give you lots of special eye drops...
I guess my point is, that she is happy with the experience while I feel that the $1,600 could have been better spent on a pool table for my basement.

The question now is, how much would you pay to keep her from finding out you said that? :)

cotton, the best place to get glasses was The Pacific Mall on Steeles. Since you Canukistanians messed up the exchange rate, I'm not so sure anymore. ;-)
