Looking for open source email server.

I know this is not the best location for submitting this but I think the people who knows the answer can be found here.

We are in need of a decent email server (well at least good enough), for using with our application server which will be j2ee 5 compatible but all of the stuff I found are either commercial (fee per mail box) or not functional enough. The only suitable solution is zimbra which have a free version (we have small budget). Another option I found is apache JAMES, So my question is in your opinion what is the best option for us, It's not important if it's open source or not just we can't spend money for email server initially but eventually we will need to purchase support for it. Initially we think there will be between 50,000 to 100,000 mail boxes. Though extra functionalities will not hurt but main stuff we need is an email server which except common features, let us to store emails in database with support for clustering and offer acceptable UI (I think we can plug another UI, is it right?).

any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

There's lots of free and open source mail servers available.

The JavaMail web page has direct and indirect pointers to

many of them. http://java.sun.com/products/javamail

You might want to look at Sun's mail server. It's not yet open

source, but we've announced our intent to do that. It is free

for use, and you can buy support if you need it. It will certainly

handle your scalability requirements. Start at

Hi,

Thanks very much for the link,

Actually it's much better solution than what we hoped, but the only problem is it's cost.

Sorry to ask it here but I already tried other ways (reading web site, chat support and so on), But as an insider of sun may I ask you what is the pricing policy of this package and specially the messaging server? I guess and hope it's free for deployment with commercial support (because of our situation) but I can't find anything like that in sun's web site. It clearly says that you can get a trial version and also there is a price and buy option.

Thanks in advance.
