IIS 6.0 Application pool failures
Hi,
We are running policy agent 2.2 on IIS 6.0 /Windows 2003. We keep getting the following IIS 6.0 application pool error in our server event logs:
"A process serving application pool 'xyz' terminated unexpectedly. The process id was '5300'. The process exit code was '0xffffffff'."
After running the IIS 6.0 diagnostics tool we have discovered that the application pool failures appear to be caused by libnspr4.dll. The IIS 6.0 diagnostics report states:
In w3wp__PID__3760__Date__06_29_2007__Time_09_35_45AM__181__Second_Chance_Exceptio n_C0000005.dmp an access violation exception (0xC0000005) occured on thread 12 when another module attempted to call the following unloaded module: libnspr4.dll.
We have also noticed that the application pool errors correspond with the following entries in the agent logging file:
2007-06-29 09:35:45.087Debug 3760:26cc20 PolicyAgent: am_web_cleanup(): cleanup sequence initiated.
2007-06-29 09:35:45.087Debug 3760:26cc20 PolicyEngine: PolicyEngine::~PolicyEngine() Destroying Service: iPlanetAMWebAgentService
2007-06-29 09:35:45.087MaxDebug 3760:26cc20 ServiceEngine: Service::~Service(): Cleaning up iPlanetAMWebAgentService service.
To summarise, there appears to be a direct link between our IIS 6.0 application pools terminating and the Policy Agent am_web_cleanup call.
Any advice on why this is happening will be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Myles Johnson
