DS 6.0 - Changing Ip address of 1 master server in MMR configuration

Hello,

I have 2 servers in MMR configuration - serverA and serverB.

I had to change the IP address of serverA in preparation to a

pending physical move. The hostname stays the same.

Now when I login to serverA's DSCC console, I am able to see all directory instances on A and B. When I log into serverB's DSCC console, the instances running on A come up as stopped/disabled, even though they are actually up. So I unregistered on of the server A's instances on B console. Now, when I try to re-register, I get an error that "Could not contact DSCC agent on server A...". I've verified that DSCC agent is running on serverA on port 11162.

Needless to say that my replication is also down.

What is the right procedure to follow in case one has to change the IP address of a server in a MMR setup.

Thanks for your feedback.

As long as you've been configuring Directory Server, Replication and DSCC with hostnames, there is nothing that is tied to the IP address of the machines and you can change the IP address of any Master or Consumer without any impact on the Directory Service itself.

But you probably need to restart the host itself...

I strictly used DNS names. No IP addresses.

I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that one

of the server (server A) is running on a VMWARE

linux Red Hat slice.

I've noticed other strange behavior on this server - DS 6 seems

very unstable, compared to the one running on a

physical Linux server.
