Access Manager and Anonymous Bind

I have recently installed Java Enterprise System 5 with Access Manager 7.1 and Directory Server Enterprise Edition 6.0. I have been trying for the past few days to try to get Access Manager to use an LDAP server that is on a different machine and isn't Directory Server Enterprise Edition 6.0.

I don't want to bind as the root user of this LDAP because I don't want Access Manager or any other installed software to have the power to change the database. I've tried using an anonymous bind but so far no luck.

Any ideas on how to configure Access Manager 7.1 to authenticate using anonymous bind to an external LDAP server?

Could you elaborate more on what you mean when you say trying to get AM to use another LDAP....?

The Java Enterprise System includes Access Manager so that you can setup up a way to authenticate users who attempt to login. Now I can manually add new people to the list but I would like to use an LDAP instead since there are over 35,000+ entries. In the Access Manager there is an area that will let you connect to an LDAP but it is wanting a Root Bind DN and password to connect. This isn't acceptable because when you Bind with the Root DN and password it will let you select, insert, modify, and delete entries in the LDAP. I want to just select entries because the LDAP is currently updated by another system. This is an Anonymous Bind but I don't see anyway to do this. I tried leaving the password blank and giving it a DN that works for other systems but it won't connect to the server. Hope this helps.

Have you tried binding as a user with read access to the people container?
