Access Manger login redirects back to login
hi,
i am a newbie to Sun Access manager 7.1. I installed it from JES 5.0 with the configure now option. 1 instance of directory server dsins1 & access manager with default settings on WS 7. this is using ldap authentication where i did not populate LDAP (chose "no" while it said about sample data).
Now, all the modules of AM are deployed on WS7 & no errors appear. When i try to access /amserver/console i get the login page. i type the amAdmin as uid & when i give the password i gave while installation, it just loops back to login page. i have not created any other users or organizations. the root org is dc=mydomain,dc=com. i have crosschecked in amconfig.properties & in the hosts file. every setting seems ok.
the link displayed is
http://myserver.mydomain:8080/amserver/service=amconsoleservice&goto=http:/ /myserver.mydomain:8080/amserver/base/AMAdminFrame
i get a JSESSIONID cookie which is accepted & expires when session expires. the path is "/".
Any idea how to get the amconsole to come up?

i installed in Legacy mode only. my FQDN in the hosts file is localhost.localdomain. i tried accessing it using the same. should i change it just for this?
all my AM config is using http://localhost.localdomin:8080. thats my web server 7.
The AM logs give the following message :(amAuthentication.access)
"2007-06-12 13:40:23""Login Success"LDAPAUTHENTICATION-100dc=localdomain6ad60f44df4a2cd901INFOuid=amAdmin,ou=People,dc=localdomain127.0.0.1"cn=dsameuser,ou=DSAME Users,dc=localdomain"localhost
the message in my web server log is :
12/Jun/2007:14:41:01 "GET /amserver/UI/Login?service=adminconsoleservice&goto=http://localhost.locald omain:8080/amserver/base/AMAdminFrame HTTP/1.1"
this is the link that i get redirected to which is again the login page.

please consider the link in the first post as http://localhost.localdomain:8080. typo.
Am i going wrong somewhere? because i am going to host only one portal, i just did the configure now option. please help!!
oh n 1 more query. how do i check if my LDAP has the user "amAdmin" with access rights to amconsole? is it because amAdmin is not configured into LDAP?

Sun products (especially AM) are pretty sticky about having the hostname set right.
This might be too late to save you the trouble, but always try to have a proper IP / hostname set in your hosts file, and install on that, instead of going for the 127.0.0.1/localhost.localdomain combo.

i checked the cookie domain. its configured.
after weeks of hard work & surfing sun forums FINALLY!! i got this worked out.
This is how i got access manager working fine in Solairs environment. Installed Web server 7 first in configure now mode.
Then started it up, installed Access Manager 7.1 in one shot (along with DSEE & other components which it automatically selects).
Problems i faced before :
I had an issue with resolv.conf file in my pc. It was not configured properly to recognize my domain. I did that before starting install.
I chose to populate the DS with sample data. This saved me a lot of time trying to manually insert data with sample LDIF files.
my 2 cents of advice : if u're installing in Configure Now mode, make sure u figure out what is going wrong in every error message u get in a screen. DO NOT GO AHEAD by trying to quickfix things for the time being a la trying to change hostname n stuff like that. configure solaris properly before even starting JES. Thanks, bye
