Sun Blade 2000 posts Sun Blade 1000 on boot
Just want to make sure this is valid. Does a Sun Blade 2000 post "Sun Blade 1000" typically on boot? Purchased a used system (supposed to be a Sun Blade 2000), but the post screen states Sun Blade 1000 on boot. The system contains dual 1.015Ghz processors which are being upgraded to 1.2Ghz processors and the system is in the SB 2000 purple case.
Spoke with one of the "engineers" that works for the company we purchased the system from and they stated that the SB 1000 and SB 2000 use the same NVRAM. That the prom for both systems always contains the SB 1000 image and I could change it to display Sun Blade 2000 on boot if I wanted. I thought the systems were different. That the SB 2000 used a different board with different chipset.
According to Sun's own site regarding the SB 2000, "The Sun Blade 2000 has an improved main board and memory bandwidth over the Sun Blade 1000, which results in an 8-15% boost over the Sun Blade 1000".
Any information is greatly appreciated.

Hello,
the Blade 1000 and Blade 2000 use the same systemboard.
Just review the System Board section in the Full Components Lists for the Blade 1000 and Blade 2000 in Sun System Handbook.

Though others still in Sun may try to argue fine points,
the SB2000 was simply a Y2k anniversary special edition version of the SB1000.
The outside color of the chassis was different.
The slowest cpu module it ever shipped with was faster than the slowest on the SB1000's.
The SB2k shipped with newer (evolutionary not revolutionary) versions of the systemboard.
Those parts are actually interchangeable.
As Michael advised you:
Go to the SSH. Open the full components list in separate web browser pages.
Compare them line by line.
The systemboards were also used in the Sunfire 280R and Netra 20 servers.
(same boards, different outside chassis, and an RSC card in those rackmount boxes)
The advice you got from the vendor was correct.
Update the OBP and you'll get SB2000 black text on a white POST screen.
Leave it as it currently is, and you have SB1000 black text on a white POST screen.
Either way, you've got yourself a beast of a productive workstation.
Sun's sales records will have it's chassis serial number recorded as a SB2k.
