/etc/aliases problems

Hi,

I'm a sysadmin only when absolutely necessary.

This is one of those times...

Aliases in my /etc/aliases file have stopped working.

No idea why.

What does the aliases infrastructure need to work?

I've restarted sendmail, hoping that would work - but no luck.

Is there a checklist for identifying mail aliases problems?

Thanks,

~m

btw - I'm on Solaris 8.Might the problem be that the sendmail processes [there's about 8 of them] are all running as root - should one of them be running as the user "smmsp"?

Does running newaliases report any problems?

Hi Robert - thanks for the response.I solved it - the /var partition was full. I freed up some space on it, and everything worked fine again.~m
