SAN Storage Performance Benchmark for SQL dB

We are putting a SQL Mirror Cluster in place, and want to make sure we use the proper disk setup. We have two tools to use for benchmark testing to test the different volumes we抣l be using. While I抦 familiar with IOMeter, it has been suggested that this tool doesn抰 represent a 憈ypical database workload? I was hoping someone has used IOMeter and can guide me to any reference material. I抦 thumbing through the doc that comes with the tool be I抦 not getting anywhere. There is also another tool called SQLIO.exe that was brought to my attention. Has anyone hear of or used this tool, and could maybe give an opinion as to its effectiveness?

Ended up using SQLIO, after learning how it is used. Using SQLIO, proved that we needed to add a few more disks to the Volume Group to get the performance that we were after. Also, there is a way tro run the test w/ the cache turned off. The other dba was running it w/ disabled cache, and once we allowed the cache to participate in the test, the controllers were smoking fast. Just thought I'd update my post with what we learned.
