is there any chance to install sunstudio 12 on slackware 11?
hi,
is there any chance to install sunstudio 12 on slackware 11?
i tried with no success. i used rpm2tgz on unpacked rpm's, but java 1.4.2_08 reported unsatisfied dependencies like gawk and /bin/sh.i dont understand this because i have /bin/sh and valid gawk (they come with my slack). when i use binary package for java, and try to install ss12, situation is same
any hints?

The best way to install Sun Studio on an unsupported platform is to download it in tarfile form and unpack it. There could still be certain issues with paths and names (it's unsupported platform anyway), but at least you'll have a chance to move forward.
When/if you install Sun Studio on Slackware, please let us know whether it works or not and what are particular problems you're having running IDE/compilers/dbx.
Thanks!
