system clock slides away

running Sol 10 x86 11/06 ; ntp is setup to synchronize to public available ntp servers. after startup, eveything is fine. ntp reports synchronizing to time sources. minimal offset and dispersion. after running some hours system loses time sync and is running far to late.

the time sources are alright, other systems within the same network are running perfectly in sync.

am I facing a hardware problem with the system clock?

any hints?

Regards

x86 ?

Go get a Linux LiveCD and boot the system.

Let it sit there for an interval of time you guess to be the same as when Solaris loses its time sync.

If the Linux environment also loses the sync, it likely a weak CMOS battery.

If the Linux environment is rock steady, then you may need to patch your Solaris.

( which patch? ... haven't a clue... that's fodder for another forum )
