Question on Solaris 10

Hi,

I am a new beginner of Solaris 10. I just installed the Solaris 10 on the x86 PC and everything fine. However, I discovered that the system shown 'Sun Java Desktop System for Solaris'.

I would like to have a Solaris in server version instead of desktop version. Is it something wrong ? Is it different ?

Please advise.

Thanks.

Regards,

The Sun Java Desktop System (JDS) is the GUI windows environment that is running on top of the Solaris Operating System. Is is based on GNOME. The Solaris software itself is the same for servers and desktops. You can choose different "metaclusters" of software to install, which can range from a very basic (core) system to an a system with all packages installed. The default is the "all" option.
