setting up a 2 node cluster.

Overview:

hi, i'm very new to solaris. i want to set up a 2 node cluster on 2 sunfire v240 systems. if one goes down, the other becomes active. and vice-versa. typical high availability setup. doing the research, i found that solaris cluster was the most "popular" option. but i find it quite difficult to implement, the manuals and tutorials on the docs.sun.com [http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/howtoguides/twonodecluster.jsp] site are simple to follow but don't really work out.

Questions:

1. is there anything in particular for the v240 systems that i'm missing.

2. one of my main problems is: the install file [for suncluster] is zipped, what do i use to unzip that file. i tried tar and gzip but they failed with errors.

3. is there a simple quick start guide for v240 [the quick start mentioned on the site: http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-0912 is specific to v440's although i doubt that they'll be much different]

sorry again...as i said im a newbie.

Could you be more specific about how they don't work out? What error messages did you get? You may have run into the Solaris 'secure by default' option which seems to causing a lot of grief on some installs now.

1. V240s are no different to V440s really.

2. Which zip file are we talking about? Is this the one you downloaded from the download site? If so, unzip should work. If not, your download is probably corrupt.

3. No, Sun Cluster installs are pretty much identical on all platforms.
