x4200 won't complete it's POST

Hello,

We just installed some new x4200s in our rack and have one that won't get out of it's power-up mode.

You know when you first plug in the power the fans spin up to full velocity, and then once the POST is finished the fans spin down to normal and the boot process proceeds. Well this one server never spins it's fans down to normal. The fans go at full speed forever and it never goes to begin the boot process.

- The Power/OK LED blinks on and off.

- The NetMgt port gets DHCP and we can log into the ILOM webpage, but don't see any obvious errors.

- We've tried reseating the PCIX FC card as well as the memory.

- Attempting a "poweron" from the ILOM webpage does not work.

Anything else I can try?

Thanks,

Matt

I've seen this when the connector from the front panel control board (the one that controls the front panel lights) to the motherboard is loose. Try reseating this connection. If the fans still stay on full, then it is a motherboard swap. A common issue on the Galaxy servers.
