will Solaris 10 support Sun Fire V125 model

Solaris 10 OS Hardware Compatibility List doesn't have Sun Fire V125 blade in its list. I wonder if they just forgot to add it there or it is not going to work with Solaris 10.ThanksMichael

Mike,

Try another resource, the Sun System Handbook.

Here's the link to the free version of the V125's resource page in the SSH.

(you don't need a service contract for that link)

As of this date, Solaris 10 is preinstalled to the system, when you buy it with an OS.

That's the default Operating Environment for that platform.

Do you know which release number has current available for download Solaris 10 OS for Spark systems?

I need to reinstall the system and I wonder if preinstalled release version (10 (03/05 preinstalled) is different from that one available for download. Could this course any incompatibility problems? I do have a concern as if I try to have v125 working as an Install server and use it as a source of network installation the remote client system starts installation but brings: " ERROR: The directory you specified does not contain a valid Solaris OS image."

Solaris 10 3/05 is the GA release for that environment.

( GA = "general availability" a.k.a. the very first distribution )

Therefore any and all subsequent releases are newer than the GA release.

The only thing older than GA is a beta pre-release version.

Keep something in mind with regard to the SSH.

It may not always get updated on a scheduled basis.

Interpret what we saw today as actually stating ...

" The V125 ships with Solaris 10. " and ...

" You're going to get what we have available, which is usually the latest and greatest. "

I actually doubt that it currently ships with a two-year-old release.

If you are going to install it from your own media, then go for it.

every Solaris 10 release you might have "stuck in a desk drawer"

or brought down fresh via a new download will work on that platform.

As for thar error message, continue to pursue that in your other forum thread.
