Installing Java 6.0 (JDK 1.6) on a Windows based OS
Hi all newbies,
I have written a tutorial on how to install JDK 6.0 on Windows (yuck!) platforms.
The tutorial is at
http://www.javaclass.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=109
I was hoping people would leave comments and tell me how I can improve on it.
Hail the Java Kingdom !!

Thank you for the prompt replies.
The images were being hosted at a third party server - so maybe, that service (over which I have no control) was down. I resized the images (into gifs, and now they take a quater of the time to download) and placed them on my server - so there should not be any "image problem" anymore. I fixed the title.
As for what is wrong with
http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/getStarted/cupojava/index.html
Probably nothing but:
- I teach java and I find that my students are more reluctant to dwell into the sun site (with loads of clicks and an overwhelming amount of information all over the place). A one stop complete setup tutorial is lacking.
- I do not think that there is anything wrong with having a number of tutorials describing a particular topic/process. As long as the info contained in them is not conflicting. Some people might understand the SUN site better, others my tutorial.
Thanks for your feedback.

in other words they're lazy and want everything presented on a silver platter instead of doing their own research.
Whatever happened to simply reading the installation instructions?
You could even have simply duplicated those on your school network if it's too hard for the kids to look them up on the download site where they're presented just one click away from the binary installers.
