Java applet errors?

I have been trying to view the webcams at http://www.gwcoc.com. I know I have viewed them on this computer last year but am unable to do it now. I can see the Java cup logo appear for a few seconds when I access the webcam page, but it then disappears and the area is blank. I checked the console and found the following:

Java Plug-in 1.6.0_01

Using JRE version 1.6.0_01 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM

User home directory = C:\Documents and Settings\Georgine Robertshaw

Can someone please help me? I have un-installed and re-installed Java twice, but it's still the same thing.

Thank you,

Gina

Gina, this is a programmer support forum, so unless you are creating the applet and have the source code for it, I'm afraid you'll have to contact the person who is responsible for it.Good luck.

I'm sorry for posting this on a wrong forum. Thanks for being kind--I've seen many forums where members answer non-appropriate questioners rudely. When it comes to java, I admit that I am totally lost about how it works. Do you happen to know of any forums where I can get help with this problem?

Thanks again.......Gina

No problem at all, and this forum has its share of rudeness, but you were quite clear in your issue... even if this is the wrong forum, precision and thoroughness are always appreciated ;).

It appears to be a custom applet, but strangely enough, it works for me. It appears, however, to be a network issue. The applet, and presumably, the images are coming from the camera at http://209.128.254.195/ , and it does appear to be fairly slow in responding.

On that vein, I'd have to say that your issue is somewhere in the network, and I honestly don't know much at all about networking, and couldn't even tell you where to begin tracking this down, other than contacting the webmasters. Sorry I couldn't help. Good luck.

Thanks for the tip--I believe we pass that exit on the way to Wildwood/Cape May so I will definitely look into it to go somewhere a little different. We usually try to get to the Jersey shore for a few days every summer. (I'm from the coal regions of central PA and laughed when you used the term "youse").

Thanks again.......Gina

Perhaps you're behind some firewall? Are you at work? Cuz I tried (from work) and it dont' work for me. Just prints socket error. Probably trying to connect to a blocked port on the server.

I am from PA and am familiar with where you live.

The suggestion is a serious one. I presume you have a family and want a more, "Family Friendly" destination. Cape May is more family friendly as is Ocean City (a dry town), Brigantine, Sea Isle, and few other towns. Wildwood, North Wildwood, and Atlantic City are not as family friendly.

If you are coming down the Garden State Parkway, you will see signs for Sea Isle City/Townsend's Inlet; similarly with Route 9. I wouldn't use Route 9 as my main Route because of the traffic.

Youse can go down 80 to the Northeast Extension, downa SennerSiddy, over da Ben Franklin ta Route 55...blah, blah, blah.

Have fun this summer.
