Here's a good beginner's tutorial that the forum members generally suggest everyone start with: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/getStarted/cupojava/If you already know some C, then I'm sure you'll breeze through it.

Hi Senthil,

I just started to study for the SJCP and brought out my old text books. I forgot how great they were, without a doubt they are the contributing factor to why I am a programmer today. I'm partial to the one by Savitch as it assumes you know nothing, but Dietel's is excellent as well covering a vast amount of material.

Though a bit pricey, they are worth tripple the asking price...
