Hello all, can anyone who knows java please help to contribute to designing one. i made one the goes up and down and changes colour. but i have no clue on how to make it accually read something and deside to go up a percent or stay nuetral. thanks in advanceMichael
You have to tell the progress bar what it's state is. You can create a monitor that, for instance, tracks how much data has been read from an input stream, and tells the progress bar what percent is done. Make sure that you do the monitoring on a separate thread than the edt.

There's a basic demo on that tutorial. Download the sample code and run through the tutorial with it. If you have any specific questions afterwards, feel free to ask them here.

Any tutorial that someone writes for you in this thread is going to be exactly like the one that was linked to. There's zero reason for anyone here to put that much effort into redoing what's already been done. What was it about that tutorial that you didn't get? I'm asking sincerely.

well its not that i dint get it ...its that they give u piles of info all at once....when i work with my tutor we start at a basic no colour one and mve up from there...but he has been busy for weeks

Indeed. Threatening to kill someone because he has no life? Wouldn't that be redundant?
I assume the "15" in leafy's name is because he's 15 years old. That would explain some of the bad attitude, but it's kind of disappointing if they've stopped teaching basic English grammar.
