GPS Midlet dev. - Where to start?

Hello -

I've been asked to build a J2ME application that will run on GPS enabled phones. Can anyone point me in a good starting direction? What I've discovered so far is that I need the javax.microedition.location package. Where I'm stuck is that I'm developing on Mac OSX and the mpowerplayer phone emulator that I'm using does not contain/support this package. I've read that the Motorola iDEN SDK/Emulator will work but I don't know if I can use this emulator on OSX. Can anyone confirm whether or not this is possible?
