With Open ESB CD in hand, how do I get started?

I spent time at the Open ESB booth at JavaOne 2007 talking with the Sun representatives and engineers about Open ESB.

I'm glad I did, but I'm having a heck of a time getting started.

I have all of the requirements set-up running on Solaris 10 development server.

I've used theService Oriented Architectures using BPEL from Java BluePrints, which really helped, but I feel I don't know enough yet to apply it towards real world projects yet.

What other resources are recommened to learn more about SOA, BPEL on the JBI Framework?

Thanks,

If you want to know how to use the BPEL SE along with other JBI components I would highly suggest watching the component videos; this is were I started.

For example watch the SMTP BC videos, http://www.glassfishwiki.org/jbiwiki/Wiki.jsp?page=SMTPBC, under section 3. User Information. I would recommend the inbound and outbound demo's.

Then if you want to start using other components I would suggest watching there videos as most components do.

Todd,

The Open ESB CD handed out at JavaOne also contains the Mortgage Application demonstration which was shown at the JavaOne booth. Also included is a PDF that explains how to setup and run the Mortgage demo. You could give that a spin - that demo' will expose you to a whole bunch of SEs and BCs and will give you a chance to see how components work with each other. Once you get that to work, you could then make modifications to it .. (like add CASA, add the WLM SE)

Pinstriped_Dude: That's a very good point which I totally overlooked, thanks.I've been tasked to learn (not really tasked - I'm always happy to learn) about ESB, SOA and JBI - so far I'm taking baby steps and making progress. Thanks again,--Todd
