Password Expiration Notification

I am trying to implement the email notification before password expiration available on global account policies, but I can磘 make it work. I have read in other forums that this should be done within a "deferred task scanner" , but I have no idea how this should be done..

縒ill I need to modify a workflow in order to add a new activity for the deferred task?

緾ould anyone please assits me on the process of doing this? My client really need this!. Just so you know, I have implemented a logon module that includes lighthouse resource so password expiration is available to the user.
