Linux fixes on DS 5.2

I have several 24x7 DS 5.2 systems

running on Linux Red Hat AS 3 update 4.

According to Sun support , 5.2 has been

certified/tested for this level of Red Hat.

If I were to do maintenance on Red Hat ,

say rpm -u which will upgrade to the latest

level, I will upgrade tp RH AS 3 update 8.

Technically , I will be out of spec.

What are the 'best practices' recommendations

of the users on this list who run DS on Red Hat Linux

to fix updates ? How do we maintain cpmpliance with Son

and still be reasonably uptodate with respect to os

fixes ?

It is widely accepted that Sun supports a minimal version of Red Hat Linux and all its micro-releases (which should be 100% backward compatible).

As a result, Directory Server is supported on RH AS 3 update 8.

Note that the specs for support are established at the time of the release of the Directory Server, and most of the updates are unknown then. The document does not get updated every time an OS vendor does release a patch (that would require a person dedicated to this only).
