Replication Error

Hi,

I am running DS5.1 SP3 on Solaris 8. We have MMR set up and at times we faced the following error in our logs

NSMMReplicationPlugin - Replication: Incremental update failed and requires administrator action

I would normally re-initialize the consumer and and the problem will be solved. But recently, the problem keep occuring and after much re-initialization, the database got totally corrupted.

Is this a known replication issue in SP3 and what is the cause of it?

Hope someone can provide with a better understanding of this.

Directory Server 5.1SP3 is rather old and several issues have been fixed in the MMR replication feature since then.

This specific error message indicates a failure to replay a change on the consumer server. It could be due to several things such as some data corrupted, some bugs with specific data and values...

At this stage, I would suggest that you export the data from one of the Master (in LDIF and preferably without any Replication meta-data) and re-import it, re-initialize the other servers from the restored one.

I would also strongly encourage you to move to the most up to date version of Directory Server: Directory Server 6.0.

Regards,

Ludovic.
