DS 6 Install

Hi,

Ive just gone through and installed DS 6 from the pkg distribution. I have then gone on to register DSCC within the web console, using the dcssetup initialize command and get through to the DSCC login page. When i setup the directory service manager user with the password password, why wont it then log me in to DSCC as the directory service manager?

Do i have to create another user within the registry to be able to log in to the console or should i be able to log in as directory manager? if i should be able to log in as directory manager then what is the default password as i dont remember setting one?

Thanks

DSCC is a Web application that is deployed in Sun Web Console.

Sun Web Console requires a user login / password that correspond to an OS User (and which has privileges to do certain things). The first time, this user must be root (so it can create directories and other things).

When starting DSCC, then LDAP authentication and user is required and used hence the 2 different logins.

With Directory Server Enterprise Edition 6.1 (soon to be released) DSCC will be available as a WAR file and will no longer require the 2 authentication steps.

Ludovic,

I am logged in as a user say bob which is a member of the administrators group. The user bob is logged on to the UK domain within Windows.

In Event viewer some of the services have started as UK\bob, which user am I supposed to use to log in to the Console, is it bob, UK\bob, administrator, root?

Thanks

On Windows:The first time you log to the Sun Web Console, authenticate as a Local Administrator. After that, you should be able to log as bob or UK\Bob.Regards,Ludovic.
