Java Downloading on Fedora 6

I have been trying to download jdk-1_5_0_10 onFedora 6. I have referred various forums, links which state the following steps:

1. Choose "Linux self-extracting file" version(not the RPM version) in some cases and

2."Get the Linux RPM in self-extracting file" (don't download Linux self-extracting file!) in some cases.

which option to choose from.

I have tried both the options and followed the steps mentioned. The effect in Case 1 is it throwserror "no repositories available to set up" and"no match for argument java-1.5.0_sun"
