Error applying transforms error fixed

i was having problems installing new version of java via online update

but after it downloaded update the error Error applying transforms popped up after it was trying to install, i searched nad found a cure, well it worked for me, i downloaded jre-6u1-windows-i586-p-s

and executed the install but it came up with same error even after downloading windows installer cleanup programe and deleting reference to java etc. what i did was go to C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Sun\Java\jre1.6.0_01

i found the same install programe that i downloaded earlier

and executed from within that folder and it installed correctly.

weird?

worked for me so maybe it will for you, i have win xp sp2
