NAS file permission on windows and unix and autofs security

Hi All,

We have configured NAS 5210 with both NIS and Active Directory services.

As the users will be accessing the data stored on NAS Box in both the Operating Environments we are using a common home directory for both the windows and Unix accounts.

Problem1:

Now the issue is, whenever user is setting permission on his folders stored in NAS Box through windows environment. The same files are not accessable through solaris environment.

In the same way when a user is applying permissions(chmod) on his folders present in NAS box through solaris. He is not able to access the same folders on windows environment..

Problem2:

As the home directories are mounted using autofs "usera" after logging into his account is able to access "userb" home directory by just typing "cd /home/userb". Now the users wants to protect his data by applying permissions. But, he is not able to do so because of the "Problem 1" .

Any help apprectiated.

Regards,

Vijay

Have the same permission problems but we have a Titan 32 BlueArc. We are running NIS+ along with AD. Everytime a file is created under windows solaris doesn't know who the user is so it defaults to root ownership and vice versa from solaris to windows.
