How to make bootable DVD after downloading Solaris10?
Hi everyone,
This is abdul. For the first time im entering this forum and hoping that someone would definitely answer my query.
I have downloaded all the segments of solaris10. As per the insrtuctions given in download docs, i executed the first "NOSSO" application which in turn made one 2.9GB DVD. I used UltraISO s/w to view the contents of .iso file.I extracted the files and simply burnt the DVD with NERO CD/DVD burner as bootable DVD.
However, the DVD is made to bootable but the linux installation not started. Is this the way we create any bootable linux DVD/CD?
OBSERVATION:- I observed with other linux distos that, all of them are having one "autorun" file. Do i need to have the same file here also?
if yes then how do i get it. Bcoz, one line in this file is referring to .exe file, which is not there!
Kindly help me as im desparate to use Solaris10 for the first time
Thanks and Regards,
Abdul

Even I'm also facing the same problem, I did make data DVD only with the iso image on it, but my BIOS is not loading it on start up.. end up with reinstalling vista twice just to make sure BIOS is working fine for me..
Any idea? any other DVD writer software that I have to use .. Tried with Express Burn as well

Burning an iso image makes the dvd "as is" on the iso image,
it can be data, bootable, a movie or a photo collection, you do
not have to specify anything else than "burn iso from image"
which will be somewhere in your burning software options.
there are a couple of types of iso, but solaris comes in
the standard shape, and if your software default differs,
you may try a couple of attempts.

Below is the step by step (click by click) recipe for burning bootable DVD/CD with Nero6:
1. Start Nero.
2. Go to Nero OEM
3. Select Nero Express.
4. In Express select last menu, i.e. "Disc Image or Saved Project"
5. In file selector window select appropriate iso image and click Open.
6. Start of burning procedure is quite obvious.
No simpler recipe exist.
Good luck
