Installation Problem
Hello All:
Firstly, allow me to introduce myself. I am superbly new to Solaris, and I am very serious to learn Solaris and use this platform to build applications in Java and C++.
Here is my problem. I have a PC with dual boot, one is Win 2000 Pro and the other is Win 2000 Server. I have downloaded Solaris 10 CD edition which i burned 5 discs, and when i burn them into discs, i used Nero Burning ROM. After that, i went on and tried to install Solaris using the CD. It worked until when the screen of where Solaris is imaging a copy, and when it completes, there is no further action prompted by the installation. This installation happened in Win 2000 Pro and the partition of which i select the extraction file to be mounted is the partition where Win 2000 Server is located.
The following are my questions:
1. When the partition contains another operating system, can Solaris still boot further? Is this a root cause why its not moving to further installation?
2. If I burn like a normal data disc and not making it a bootable disc, does it considered of why its not working?
3. When i check with HCL , i cannot find an exact match since my PC is a custom built, using Intel Motherboard and P4 1.7GHz. My current HDD is 40Gb, RAM 256 DDR, 3 CD Drives.
Too many questions and i am lost and confused. Please help.
thanks
Siva
