How to install S10 / bad PBR sig / layout

Hi all! Sorry my English.

When I install S10 with auto Layout options all is becomes good, but ALL my free space come to folder /export/home! I can't install enything else, I even can't delete nothing, cuz no free space in trash! :):)

After this

I make another S10 installation and change space distribution by my opinion (more to / and swap and much less to /export/home), and after successfull installation I get Bad PBR sig!

Guys pls help!

What I need to do?

And one more question: How to install Solaris with MustDie XP, ups Windows:) ? It's not a problem at all in any kind of Linux. But headace in S10.

By the way, I like to use double tab in Linux console, but I didn't find anything like this in Solaris. How can I turn on this hotbutton?

/export/home can be used for user home directories so the system initially allocates the space to them. If you don't like that, most don't, then reallocate as you've already discovered.

Solaris 10 uses the Grand Unified Bootloader. For me installing with Windows, any version of Windows and Solaris was finally a no-brainer. Not sure why your experience would be different.

LInux usually uses the bash shell as the default shell. Solaris usually uses the Bourne shell as the default shell. Either run bash or change your shell in /etc/passwd.

Alan, thank for your reply!

Yes, I want to reallocate free space. I did it while installation, but immidiatly after I get bad PBR sig :( So it's really big a big problem. Smth with boot sector:(

Can I reconfigure disck space after installation with some commands? I'd would like to add all space from /export/home to /

Wome strange warnings while installation:

This is part info from profile of rinstalling Solaris

Boot Device: c0d0

File System and Disk Layout: /c0d0s051050 Mb

swapc0d0s11513 Mb

After I press F2_Begin Installation I get following warning:

WARNING: Unused disk space (c0d0)

Look! Boot Device and unused disk space are the same, what's the problem, how can I set up bood device?

How big is your disk? You've only listed root and swap for a total of about 62.5 GB more or less. You didn't list out what was allocated to /export/home or if Windows is being used to fill up the rest of the disk.

So if your disk is 80GB, then 80-62.5 = unused disk space.

You can reallocate disk space afterwards if you used a Logical Volume Manager or if you're using ZFS. I doubt either of those situations is true so you're probably better off just re-installing.

The installation program should mark the Solaris partition as the active boot device assuming that it is on the first disk in your system, which appears to be the case.
