Request Help

Hi Guys,

I'm relatively new to solaris..I have been assigned an inventory task of the solaris servers by my boss and needless to say i'm struggling with it .

I wante to find out the following details:

1.HBA card make, model,no of cards installed and driver version.

2.NIC card make, model,no of cards installed, speed duplex or not and driver version.

3.No of Local Drives, root is mirrored or not.

4.No of Storage Disks

5.Tape Drive info, path,no of drives, drive name,WWN no etc (as much info as possible)

6.Serial no of the sun machine.

7.Buffers

8.Static Routes

I would be immensely grateful if someone can please help me how to find the above information.

I have tried a few commands like prtdiag and prtconf.but havent got the entire info.

Thanks

There are some things that just require you to go to the system,

shut it down, take it apart, and read paper barcode labels.

Sometimes you will need to do that for models of adapter cards.

You will definitely need to do that, to be accurate on system serial numbers.

There may be some disk arrays with spare unused drives

shoved into adjacent slots or sitting loose on top of their chassis.

Not everything in this high tech world of ours lends itself

to remotely typing a command from the comfort of an office chair.

Prtdiag and prtconf are great tools, but if you cannot decipher

some of the output syntax, their not going to be very useful to you.

Ask that boss what they might do to begin the task and start with that.

Other will surely present their thoughts here, as well.

Thank You for your response ..but unfotunately i'm in remote support..and the servers are located in Newark ,USA. So its kinda difficult to physically reach the servers. :)

I'l have to somehow find a way to get this done....hopefully you guys will keep responding and i'm sure that will help resolve my issue.

Thanks Again
