OpenGL / Nvidia driver config problem on new Ultra 20 M2 workstation

Hi

I just received a new Ultra 20 M2 workstation with a Quadro FX1500 graphics card (using the preinstalled Solaris 10) and noticed that OpenGL apps (glxgears) is using the Mesa libraries instead of the NVIDIA accelerated libraries (only give about 800FPS). As best as I can determine, the workstation is using the NVIDIA driver and not the X.org nv driver so I'm confused as to what is going on. Also I noticed there is no xorg.conf file in /etc/X11. There is an xorg.conf.nvidia file but I thought that was just a template for creating xorg.conf.

So my questions are:

1. How do I determine if I'm really using the NVIDIA driver. The nvidia config app thats available under the Gnome desktop makes me think I am.

2. Should I copy xorg.conf.nvidia to xorg.conf

3. How to I get Solaris to use the NVIDIA OpenGl libraries and not Mesa

4. Is the path of least resistance downloading and installing the latest driver from NVIDIA

Also which one is the appropriate for the Quadro FX1500 (the 9631 Legacy driver or the new 9755).

5. Do I need anykind of Bios update etc.

Thanks

You may not NEED the BIOS update, but my new Ultra20M2 that arrived just a short time ago didn't have the latest BIOS rev, so I installed it... Yours may also have an update available.
