free packages in Solaris9
Hi!
There seems to be many free GNU packages in our Solaris system and would like to delete those on our production system.
SFWaalib
SFWaconf
SFWafio
SFWamake
SFWamnda
SFWbdb
SFWbison
SFWbrl
SFWcprnt
SFWctags
SFWcvs
SFWdb1
SFWddd
SFWdiffu
SFWemacs
SFWenscr
SFWespgs
SFWespk
How do we know if these GNU free packages are utilized by any other software? I want to check any dependencies of JES, Identity Manager etc?
Thanks.

Since these are add on to a base Solaris Install nothing in Solaris depends on them. If however you have installed any additional software, especially other GNU packages, those might. So go ahead and delete them unless you know you need them.

Thanks.
I havent installed any additional packages by myself. But, I am worried about this package:
SFWimapImap - mail server daemon and utilities
Do you think JES or SUN Identity Manager might depend on it?.
I presume, these packages will not be installed untill we do an install with an installer? Is this right?

SFWmyjdb is MySQL Connector/J
SFWmysql is MySQL
SFWsudo is sudo
SFWxmacs is emacs for X
SFWxterm and is xterm
no Solaris package will have a dependancy on any of those. You can safely remove them also. Although sudo is a very useful tool (INESHO) to have and you might want to keep it around.
