Quiet Server for development

I would like to purchase a sun server for development/hosting demos at work. We don't have a dedicated machine room. I tried a T1000 on a try and buy and it was an excellent machine but incredibly noisy. I need a machine that can run multiple simultaneous threads so as a minimum I require 2 * dual core server.

I want to stick it under my desk say about 4 feet away. Is there any sun servers that run with an acceptable level of noise. The server will be on permanently since it will be used to host demonstration products etc. I was looking at the X2100M2 but the tech specs suggest it is nearly as noisy as a T1000. Some posts I have seen say it is quiet!!

Any pointers/suggestion would be really helpful.

My six x2100M2 servers are much quieter than the T1000s. This is due to the pancake fan design vs. the wind tunnel fan design on the T1000.

However, these are still servers, and are not designed for desktop environments and will be louder than the standard desktop.

One thing I could suggest is getting a small 2 foot high cabinet with front and back doors and mounting the server in it, then closing the doors. You can get one at most suppliers, like BlackBox.

Get an Ultra40M2 workstation. They're available with 2*dual I believe. If they're anything like the U20M2, it'll be whisper quiet as well.
