V215 PCI query and disks
I'm looking to buy a V215 server with the following configuration but I have concerns about the PCI slots. I don't know if I have enough of the
correct type (I'm unsure about backwards compatibility etc.) Can someone advise me on whether this configuration would work?
The V215 has the following slots :
One PCI-X 133 MHz/64-bit full-height/short slot.
One PCIe low-profile/short x8 lane slot with 16-way connector
I want to add the following cards :
X7296A
Sun XVR-100 Graphics Accelerator, 2D Graphics, 24-bit colour, 64MB Frame Buffer Memory, Single slot PCI, Max resolution 1920X1200, DVI and HD-15 connectors, Dual Video support, S/W drivers CD, and Installation manual, RoHS-6 Compliant
X4422A-2
PCI Adapter with 2 * 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet UTP (RJ45), 2* 80MB per second Wide-Ultra2 SE/LVD SCSI interfaces, RoHS Compliant
I also want to mirror the 2 disk with SUNS RAID software, is this standard and supported on the V215?
TIA
Keith

Both PCI cards are qualified for that platform.

I have doubts that you could use both at the same time, however.
Though short-length, both are full height cards, so you may have to choose to use one or the other.
My vote would be to forget about direct-attached graphics.
The manuals for the respective PCI cards can be retrieved from Docs.Sun.Com

Nope. No built-in graphics of any sort.
The system's documentation can be found at the Sun System Handbook link I referenced earlier.

Those rack-mount systems are customarily administered in command-line mode.
You choose whether it's the serial port (default out-of-the-box),
or whether you configure and use the ALOM port.
You would likely need a Sun USB keyboard/mouse kit if you were to try to attach a monitor, anyhow.
( ... and there's only one USB 1.1 port, plus two USB 2.0 ports.A keyboard is a waste of a 2.0 port. )
That's all described in the documentation.
