JRE install closes all opened browser & Opens up "Verify" page of Java.com

Hi,

I have observed that if there is older version of JRE present (say Java 5 Update 10) in system and try to install new version of JRE present(say Java 5 Update 11).

During the finish of installation process the final dialog says with a note that all the browsers that are opened are going to be closed.

On click of Finish button all the browsers get closed and a new window from java.com is opened which shows the Verify page to verify the JRE that is installed.

Is there any way to avoid the browsers getting closed and thus avoid the Java Verify page popping up.

I have captued few bugs related to this but could not get any help /workaround to avoid this.

Few are related links

Please help.

As explained in the bug (6267625) this is the default change in the installation process implemented from 1.5.0_10.

This behavior can not be avoided. This is done to provide smooth installation experience to users.

The best workaround for your choice, in case you are using latest IE version 7 and above is to configure Tabbed Browser Settings.

In IE 7 - Go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Tabbed Browsing Settings - Check against (Enable Tabbed Browsing). This feature will allow you to choose restoring older session on closing
