JRE won't install on Vista using Mozilla Firefox. I keep getting a 203 error code. How do I get around this?

Hi there,

Like you, I am completely frustrated, and am not receiving any replies from Java to my emails. I found that I was able to use Java when I first upgraded from Windows 98 to Vista but, for some unknown reason can not now do so.

When I open regedit.exe, and go into the Registry Editor for Java Runtime Environment, I get the message that this folder can not be opened, as Access is denied.

I would appreciate sany help that you can give me if you find a solution to this problem.

Regards,

Brian

Try doing a manual install from the link below: http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

This problem is most infuriating. The only answer that I have found is to delete the Java program, nd go to internet explorer, and open your program from there. It has worked for me! I am using a pgebuilder from Geocities.com.Best of luck

I don't know why you need Java, but I need it for 'PageBuilder' for my family tree website, which I have with Geocities.com. The answer that I have found to work OK is to forget about Mozilla Firefox, and use IE!!

The important thing is that it is necessary to go into Control Panel, and delete the Java program completely. Unles you do this Java will not work using IE!! This might sound like double dutch, but it has worked OK for me.

The thing is that, if you open your Windows folder, you will find a Java folder already there. This is obviously why my website worked OK to begin with. It was only when I went onto Mozilla Firefox, and added the extra Java program that I ran into difficulties.

If it is of any interest, you might like to have a look at www.geocities.com/brian.mawer.t21@btinternet.com.

I hope that this information is of some help to you.
