Replication monitoring tools w/ SSL replication

I've got SSL replication up and running fine in 5.2p4 using password authentication (as opposed to certificates). The one real issue I have is being able to use the 'insync' and 'repldisc' utilities. From all I've tried, it seems these utilties only work with SSL if certificates are used, i.e. they will not work with SSL with a password.

Am I doing something silly or is this a limitation of the utilities?
