Talk to the Sysop - Solaris upgrade error

Hello everybody

I tried to upgrade Solaris 9 to Solaris 10 with installation disk, after installation gather information I pressed install. And installation status is failed with error:

Error: The specified root and/or boot was not found or not upgradable

Pfinstall failed. Exist stat=java.lang.UNIXProcess@1db776d 2 upgrade with disk space rellocation is required

Checking c1t0d0s0 for an upgradable Solaris image. Unable to start Volume Manager, c1t0d0s0 is not upgradable

Is any idea what I did wrong or what I havn`t done?

Hi,

you might have tried an upgrade install. One thing is clear, the Install process is looking for more space on the system disk. You can try free-up some space , as thump rule, 30% more that what is available free.

OR best procedure is to go for live upgrade, which may a bit time comsuming, but gives us all options to re-size the partions and copy the existing System Image.
