SMC 3.6.1 requires a reboot?

I recently installed SMC and much to my dismay when I tried to run the Set Up part of the install it failed telling me I needed to reboot my host due to /etc/system changes. This installation is on Solaris 10 - why in the world does it require a reboot for IPC parameters?

Luckily only the SunMC Server requires a reboot if it hasn't been installed before (Agents install with no /etc/system changes).

Although 3.6.1 works fine on Solaris 10, its install program still has some old code in it to support 8 and 9 as well. And on those OS's the shared memory changes needed for the Oracle database have to be written to /etc/system.. and those changes need a reboot to take effect. Yes, Solaris 10 can make those types of changes on-the-fly these days... but the current SunMC installer hasn't been updated to know that.

So for now you just have to live with it :)
