SunMC 3.6.1 , free or not?

Can you link to the licensing changes? SunMC is part of the N1 stack, and the N1 page still says: "Sun N1 Software for Free: You can download it now and use this software at no cost.":

Long ago SunMC used to have a free "base" package and you'd pay for the extra enhanced modules. But since they adopted SES licensing everything has been free to use. If you want support you still have to buy the licenses though (i.e. you can't use the free stuff and only pay for support: to get the support package you must buy the SunMC licenses that go with it).

But if they changed things I may be wrong now.

This is a link from Google Cache, states that on March 5 2007 the license is only free for the base-package and you have to pay for all other value-added software:

- SunMC 3.6.1 Base software is offered as a free download (charge for physical media) and comes with Production Environment only entitlement. To purchase licenses for any of the Sun Management Center products, please visit the SunStore or contact your local Sun sales representative or reseller for more details.

- Sun Management Center 3.6.1 value-added software (Advanced Systems Monitoring, System Reliability Manager, Performance Reporting Manager, Service Availability Manager, and Solaris Container Manager) are licensed per Solaris image.

- Sun Management Center 3.6.1 value packs also come bundled together in the Sun Management Center Enterprise suite. The Sun Management Center 3.6.1 Enterprise suite is sold per single Solaris image or in packs of 20 solaris images.

The Sun Management Center Enterprise Suite includes the following products:

Base Management

Sun Management Center 3.6.1 Base Management, includes basic hardware management/monitoring capabilities, dynamic reconfiguration, and basic Operating System (OS) monitoring. This package is available free of charge for an unlimited number of systems.

Advanced Systems Monitoring

Upgrade Licenses

The SunMC 3.6.1 software will automatically upgrade a 3.5 environment.

There are no upgrade part numbers to move from 3.5 to 3.6.1. All upgrades of entitlements must be done through an Sun Services support contract.
