Pioneer DVR-111D on Ultra 10

I am trying to install Solaris 10 on an Ultra 10. I have changed the original cdrom to a pioneer dvr-111d. When I run probe-ide it identifies the drive ok, but when I run the install it comes up with an error 'unable to read media'. I tried the media in another ultra 10 fitted with the original cdrom and the install went ok. Are there any config changes I need to do to get the install running or is it just a 'wrong drive' issue.

I am assuming that you still have a version of Solaris running on this machine. Can you verify that the CD is visible when you have inserted the CD into the pioneer DVD drive ?

The cd is not visible. so maybe it is a case of drive incompatibility, unless there something else I need to address.

A bit of user stupidity I'm afraid. I connected the DVR-111D as master on it's own on the secondary ide channel and the 2 hdd's on the primary channel on cable select, and all worked well. Sol 10 installed ok. At least it proves that the DVR-111D works ok on sparc with sol 10.
