zonecfg set ip-type=exclusive

The latest documentation on zones I have from Sun:

SystemAdministration Guide:

Solaris Containers-Resource

Management and Solaris Zones

SunMicrosystems, Inc.

PartNo: 817?592?4

June 2007

Lists the global parameter "ip-type" which can have a value of "exclusive" when the zone is to have its own dedicated NIC. My version of zonecfg in Solaris 10 11/06, patched through the latest recommended patch cluster, does not allow this property. An extensive web search has not enlightened me beyond confirming that it exists somewhere, perhaps in OpenSolaris, but perhaps not in the current enterprise version. One paper from Sun regarding IP Instances implied that the feature would be in 10 u4.

Can anyone help me? Am I wasting my time trying to set up an exclusive IP for each zone?

Thank you

Not currently part of Solaris 10. You can try it in Solaris Express today, and probably in a future update of Solaris.-- Darren

I opened a case with Sun Support. After two escalations they basically said (paraphrasing) 'Oh, did we release that documentation already?'

The features will be in the Solaris 10 7/07 release, and in the Solaris Express 5/07 release.

It has been part of OpenSolaris since January of this year.
