Sun Server FJ1A - How To Connect A Monitor ?

Since today i am the owner of a Sun Server FJ1A

I don't know the exact specs yet but there are two 10.000 rpm 18.2gb harddisk,

a 512mb RAM module. I dont know anything about the cpu yet.

I can turn it on, everything works,

I currently don't have much knowledge about rackservers, but everything can be learned, Now my question is, How can ik connect a monitor to see if it boots.

On the back 1 see 2 network connectors, 1 scsi connector, and 2 serial ports.

I dont see pci slots to add a VGA card ?

Thanx in advance, Mike

Hello Mike,

i am the owner of a Sun Server FJ1A

can you review the rear of the system and the systemboard (part number on a white sticker). Please post these part numbers.

I don't know a model called FJ1A.

Now my question is, How can ik connect a monitor to see if it boots.

You can't ! These systems are administrated via the network or serial port.

Michael

Do you perhaps actually have a Netra T1-105 system?

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=sparc+fj1a&btnG=Google+Search

Then you do not attach a monitor.

There are no keyboard/mouse connectors.

Such systems are expecting you to administer them through a command line interface.

You connect another system through to the LOM port, else you connect through the TTYa (first) serial port.

Here's the T105 resource page in the Sun System Handbook:

http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub/Systems/Netra_t1_105/Netra_t1_105.html

Review its system documentation.
